Completely Dreadful

Things went catastrophically wrong. It was a real train wreck. We tried to {compensate|mitigate the situation, but it was like trying to stop a blizzard with a cocktail stick. We're still picking up the shards and feeling the impact of this unmitigated catastrophe.

Sometimes you stumble upon situations so awful that you can't help but smile. It's like your brain tries to process the sheer extent of unadulterated absurdity and just throws its hands up, opting for a weak, desperate giggle as a coping defense.

Or were we just all part of a grand, cosmic prank?

Dreadful Day Ever

It all started with a case of morning hair. I couldn't do it to look decent. As I was dashing out the door, I stumbled and dropped my lunch all over the website carpet. To make matters worse, I was extremely running behind for school.

It all started out horribly with a simple mishap/incident/screw-up. But then everything went from bad to absolutely terrible. A series/chain/cascade of unfortunate/awful/disastrous events unfolded/occurred/piled on top each other, leaving me feeling like I was in a nightmare/horror movie/comedy of errors. It's the kind of situation where you just want to scream into a pillow.
